I've actually been following this site since the only options were Kimberly and Alice (I think...if I remember right). My original interest was in Roxy Displays as it's STILL my dream to make a PC case out of a mannequin. I just never really speculated an acceptable way of making the air flow... ...I digress.
This is just conjecture, but I'm guessing RD decided it was a good idea to diversify into the growing sex doll market. I just don't think they want it to be the focus of their business. As a side project, I get the feeling that MLD was getting too much attention and LDD was a way to sort of experiment with a different sales strategy and "dilute" attention towards MLD.
Why do I say that? Three reasons. 1) I think Roxy is an honest company and specifically hosts this forum to offer transparency for their products. Who else does that? I mean, seriously. 2) LDD is the "sportscar salesman" for their products. No one NEEDS a sportscar and we all know that, but somehow paying more for a product can make us feel better about our purchases. ...I know this from years of retail experience. 3) The Doll Forum. TDF is the center of sex doll culture. Anyone interested in sex dolls will eventually end up there and TDF does NOT like MLD.
They have their rule about "young looking" dolls, but I've spent a lot of time there. That's not the issue. I mean, if you dig enough you'll find out that MLD's Kiara is quite popular. [Not that she looks "young", just pointing out that MLD has a presence on the site] Fact is, they're a paid advertising site. Fair enough. MLD isn't the only company not paying to advertise, but when MLD comes up it's always "They might be a scam site." We know better, but MLD gets a lot of shade from the community...thus, I suspect, LDD was born.
And before I publish this I just want to say that I really like TDF otherwise. You can find me here and there in "inventors corner" and, ultimately, it was other members that lead me back here.
