Doll Maintenance

I am about to receive my first doll tomorrow and I am very much looking forward to it. I have read a lot online about how delicate TPE dolls are, if a fingernail falls off or an eyelash, does anyone have and recommendations on what kind of adhesive is safe to use that won’t damage the doll? Also clothing stains, what do you recommend for removing stains from the skin of the doll from dark clothing? some sites recommend some kind of cream but they didn’t specify. I am trying to prepare for taking care of my doll and I’d love some feedback from more experienced doll owners. thank you all.

I will just leave this one here. I paid a premium price, for some “Fingernail and Eyelash Glue,” from another Doll vendor. When it finally arrived...it was Cyanoacrylate (Superglue). I have used TPE Stain Remover Cream. It comes in a small tub, about the size of a Carmex container. It works very well. Best price; about $15.00, from EBay. But, stains will fade from TPE with time, if you don’t mind waiting..

An inexpensive Aquarium Air pump, to dry out the orifices, after you clean them, post enjoyment...a good purchase...

And a shaving Cream Brush, for applying Talcum Powder to your Doll...definitely a good buy.

Thank you, that was very helpful! Hopefully Tpe stain remover cream will be easy to find online. The websites I read made it seem like it only comes with Dolls you order from them. that’s also a good tip about the brush, I have the powder and I read it’s good to have a brush coat the body of the doll. This has been quite the learning experience, I appreciate your feedback.

if a fingernail falls off they often can be put directly back on with the glue that's already on the nail. eyelashes are much harder.i will suggest that you be very careful changing out eyes if you get different colors. the eyelashes the doll comes with are the best and if they do fall out it will be hell to try and put new ones on. they have eyelash glue, but I'm not too sure it's good on tpe. I attempted to give my dolls new lashes, and they didnt even last 2 days

As or so happens I ordered a different set of eyes and wig with my doll. She’s going to be a red head with light blue eyes. I don’t plan on doing anything with her eyelashes but thank you for the tip about the nails. Do you have any tips about changing out the eyes? I don’t plan on doing it more than once with this doll.

@ehness83 Take gentle care when swapping out the eyes. They are hard plastic and have a bit of a sharp edge on them. I make the eye look towards the ear that's on the same side of her head and gently poke a finger on the nose side of her eye to get the edge. Then, slowly and carefully remove it while trying to protect the eyelids from the edge of the eye. New eye going in is basically the same in reverse order. The plastic fluff behind the eye keeps it in place and pressed against the eyelids.
