Ordered Lucy, (145cm version) she should be here in three days. Originally wanted the #39 head, but was told they were out, so I basically said "suprise me" haha. So far my experience with MLD has been AWESOME! David was quick to email me after my order and tell me about the head being out of stock, and it is in transit to my house less than 24 hours after payment. I have wanted a doll for YEARS and finally, after lurking on this forum for 6 months, decided to finally get one.... Any advice on the following?
What is the BEST way to store my doll? Can she just be put back in the box and stored under my bed flat on her back? Or can I keep her on display standing up?
I have heard colored clothing can stain the TPE, would something in white or any other color be able to stay on them for long periods of time?
Any other tips or tricks?
Congrats! 😊
@Spanky82 Congratulations on your purchase, before I bought my first doll I did research for a few years until finally decided to take the leap and honestly I wish I would have started sooner.
Indeed standing is the best way to store your doll and I would recommend saving a couple of the small foam blocks that will come in the box to protect your doll because you can use them to put one on her upper back when leaning against something, it is not necessary but it helps specially if you store her in a place were there are objects that can exert extra pressure in certain points.
White clothing or very light clothing is safer in preventing stains but if you want to use darker colors I would recommend washing the clothing items a few times with lots of detergent and maybe at least one soaking cycle, then try the item on her while inspecting for color "bleeding" occasionally, eventually most colored clothes become safer.
Small socks or even putting shoes helps keep her feet in good condition, for some reason I find that feet are the hardest part of a doll to clean once they get very dirty, I personally put white or light colored socks on my dolls.
Nice! Thanks for the answers guys, glad to hear they can be stored standing up. Will definetly go with the socks and airpump lol. Any ideas on clothing size for the 145cm dolls?
NinjaGirl has given you some great recommendations!
I store my Ladies Standing up, with Socks or Stockings on, usually naked, wrapped in their Fleece Blanket. White or Pink Clothing seems to leave no stain, on TPE, or maybe it’s just not visible, LoL. I definitely recommend the Aquarium Airpump, for drying out her Orifices, after Funtime cleanup. Another handy item, is a Shaving Cream Brush, for applying Talcum Powder, to her TPE Skin( the Powder makes her skin feel natural and smooth). Scroll through the Forum...there really is a lot of great information in the Posts, and just about any question, you may have, may already be answered there...
The 145cm Doll is beautiful, and one of my favorites... The waiting is tough, but, the reward is awesome!
Congrats, man! If you read around, you'll see that many of us have shared the now agonizing wait that you are experiencing.
I wiled away mine by buying stuff for my girl, writing a backstory, planning a photoshoot and burying myself in this forum. It really did help me to not just sit here and wait, with her always on my mind. I am so glad that they ship from the U.S.!
Also from what I've read, the best way to store a standing doll is standing. Many put the pink blanket over her to keep the dust off and keep her skin smooth and silky.
Personally, my Aredhel gets moved around a lot. She just stands in my room, usually leaning on something. I try to change up what she's leaning on, because I'm afraid making a crease or something in her skin. The TPE seems to be very delicate.
If you look at pictures that some of the more experienced owners have posted, you'll notice their lady's all have socks on. I didn't do that. The bottom of Aredhel's feet look like she just walked through hot coals. The TPE is torn, they are dirty ugly and nasty.
I'm getting socks to protect the TPE, and I'm going to wash the feet. It's a lesson learned.
Light colored clothing such as white or pink is just fine for long term wear. Darker clothing tends to stain the skin and is really only suitable for a photoshoot, or a quick wear for other reasons. I've also found that some costume jewelry rubbed off an ugly dark smudge.
I cleaned those smudges with baby oil and soaked the offending piece of jewelry in clear, glossy polyurethane. It seems to have worked.
If you plan on having some sexy time with your lady, an aquarium pump is highly recommended. Once you wash out the orifice(s) the pump will push air into the hole and dry it out, so nothing nasty develops.
I bought a two-hose, double-strength pump from Walmart for $15.99. It dries things very quickly.
Start thinking about the look you want and go wig shopping. It is simply amazing what a difference a wig can make.
As a new doll owner myself, I can tell you that there is still a ton of stuff that you will learn. But I've already written a word wall.
In closing I will say that all the learning, in this instance, is just good fun. That's what these ladies are about. Fun. We invite them into our lives and they enrich our lives in return.
Again, congratulations. Don't be afraid to post pictures (we love those) or ask questions. Cheers.
