Well, I got my first doll a couple of months ago. I got Emma who is only 2' tall,(first time buyer so went cheap LOL!), and I was surprised. She was everything 'advertised' but, small as she is, weighs a ton! only two feet tall but weighs over ten pounds. Since I have no experience with doll's I thought she would be good for a start, then go to a larger size. I live alone so have no problem 'keeping her out of sight' but, you would think they could make a doll a little lighter. Maybe it's just me and I'm not used to moving 'dead weight. I would love to know the 'engineering' that goes into this as I personally would use Aluminum frames/skeleton and maybe light foam interior with the TPE exterior. I definitely will get a larger doll but would like opinion's/suggestion's and any advice you all have to give on how you 'manage' the weight problem. Or, is it even a problem for you?

First allow me to congratulate you on your first doll, I also own an Emma and she is the cutest!
As for the weight issue, there are companies that already use different materials for the dolls skeleton/frame and foam as a filler under the TPE or even plastic components under the TPE in the shape of bone structures not only to lower weight but for realism, however this increases the cost of production quite a bit and the dolls I have personally seen with these features cost well over $2000, the technology/technic will probably trickle down to other dolls over time but will probably take a long time.
The most efficient way to tackle your dilemma is probably by approaching it from the opposite angle, you can look at it as simple ratios, meaning the power to weight ratio, were you consider your amount of power to handle a certain amount of doll's weight, so let's assume that you find 10lbs (moderate/heavy) but could handle up to 15lbs (heavy) and maxed out at 20lbs (very heavy) considering that most medium dolls weight over 40lbs and large dolls over 60lbs you can see how you ration compares, also let's assume you are thinking of getting a medium doll like a 125cm Anna at 40lbs, then in order to handle the weight of the doll requires for your ratio to change and since the weight of the doll is a "constant" then your power needs to be modified, multiplying your power by 2 would bring your maxed ratio within reasonable tolerance, yes I know it sounds like a facepalm but sometimes the simplest solutions are the best, and here are a few variables in your favor although the act as one: leverage, torque multiplication, inertia and hypertrophy.
Doll's weight seems to be one of the top issues that dolls owners have to confront specially when handling dead weight so most of us weather knowingly or not we apply simple physics, you hold, push, pull, roll, pivot and lift in the most efficient manner at the most efficient point in the most efficient trajectory with the most efficient motion, when all of these are applied at once it can completely change the power to weigh ratio in your favor, also as you perform the task repeatedly your power potential will increase tilting the ratio in your favor furthermore, over time of course.
The only way you will get to experience this is by handling a larger doll, and many of us faced this issue once we open the box and tried to pull our dolls out, it is part of the experience, while it can feel annoying at times it can also bring some benefits, all this is assuming that you are an average human, if you decide to upgrade you may want to consider Beth, Isabella or Anna (125)
Just my humble opinion.
Thanks for the input Mr Glass, now I have decisions to make. Since being disabled I suppose I will have "Adapt and overcome". I'm thinking about Anna since being a VET I just love those cute little Asians,LOL! Guess just leave her inthe bed and only move her for cleaning and, of course, when I have company. Thanks again.
@Walter Darling first of all please allow me to thank you for your service, it goes without saying that only you know your circumstances and the decision that is best for you, I would like to point out that I have own both Isabella (100) and Anna (125 and 135) and I would like to share a few things I notice while being in ownership of those dolls and hopefully it will help you with your decision, the following are only my personal opinion and based on past experience.
The Isabella doll has some of the best textured orifices and I personally found her to be very pleasurable, I owned the medium breast model and she was soft and flexible, I found her easy to maneuver, and enjoy.
Isabella pros:
1) light weight
2) very good textures (best anal texture thus far)
3) easier to be stored (or hide)
4) easier to clean
Isabella cons:
1) small size not as much "life like" (as full size human not fairy, elf, anime, etc)
2) may require an extra head purchase* (if she does not come with the C22 head that you mentioned you liked)
3) no standing feet
4) she has a goose neck
The Anna 125 has been one of my favorite dolls because even though she is around the medium size spectrum she still is pretty light in comparison to other dolls of her size, her vagina cavity is pretty nice but her anus cavity was not textured, she was very soft and reasonably flexible.
Anna 125 pros:
1) relative light weight
2) still easier to clean than other bigger dolls
3) relatively easy to move and store
4) more "life like" size than smaller dolls
Anna 125 cons:
1) no standing feet
2) storage requires laying down
The Anna 135 is pretty similar to the 125 but has standing feet which add an advantage, however I would like to point out that the weight difference from the 125 to the 135 is noticeable to me.
Anna 135 pros:
1) can be stored standing
2) slightly larger size more "life like"
3) still lighter that most dolls on the market
Anna 135 cons:
1) heavier that her 125 model
These are just a few things that came to mind but there are other quirks to each doll such as wigs and clothing, any of this or any other doll you end up choosing has good potential, a lot of times it is a matter of experiencing for yourself the "upgrade" and getting a feel for it, also while I have not owned a Beth doll she may be very similar to Isabella, and Beth may be available with the SDH-C22 head (shown in the pictures), same head as Anna's .
I didn't mention Lucy because she a little heavier than Anna 135, and I do not own a Kiara which seems to be of comparable weight to Lucy.
In any case, good luck with your decision may your new lady bring you much happiness.
The Anna Doll is pretty awesome, really. I prefer the 135cm Size, vs the 125cm size, because She comes with Standing Feet. This feature is pretty helpful, when repositioning her, or moving her around... Might be worth considering.
I completely agree with you @rk105rider , the standing feet feature on the 135 and above sizes is very helpful, it not only prevents damaging the doll's feet but can act as a pivoting point when standing her from a laying down position and being able to store the doll in a standing position can be a pretty big advantage specially if the doll will be "put away" when there is visit.
Now even the doll market as grown so much. You can order lifelike dolls from https://www.masterpapers.com/assignment in less than you would spend on a computer these days. I was shocked to see a human being sold for $100 till I realized its a doll.
