I happen to have an antique-style, porcelain-clad, cast iron bathtub that I never use, because I shower. When I thought about cleaning my soon to be delivered Anna, groping her and cleaning her holes while soaking with her in a big tub full of hot water and bubbles seems really appealing. Go figure.
I've read that there is a hole at the cervix that could let water into the innards of the doll. Obviously not good.
I've also read that you can use some "left over" TPE to plug the hole. I don't have any of that.
Has anyone found an easy and reliable method of waterproofing these dolls?
Indeed taking a dive in the tub or jacuzzi with a doll sounds like tons of fun but as noted before water will get inside true the openings such as the feet, neck and even the LH's.
There are two things that I consider the most important points in doll ownership, the first one is safety and it regards mostly to handling the doll, an injury specially a back injury can impact a person for a long time or even a lifetime, and secondly is cleaning the inside of the doll or keeping it clean, making sure our dolls are in sanitary status is important not just for the lifespan of the doll but to avoid unpleasant experiences or even an infection.
I do shower with my dolls but I also do a lot of things for "research" purposes and not just post about the good findings but also about the mistakes I have made and things that do not seem to work or be worthwhile, sometimes I take extra risk on "experiments" but keep in mind that I own several dolls and while ruining a doll is always a tragedy it is no way as bad as if I only owned 1 or 2 dolls, I put the data out there for other to benefit from it as I benefit from other peoples post also, and a shower is not as potentially dangerous as a bath is to a doll, in my opinion submersion is far more aggressive than a shower.
For newish owners I would not recommend to shower with their dolls, a more seasoned owner would have learn many intricacies that can only be learn with time and experience.
Thank you all for the information. I'm thinking a sponge bath is the way to go. I remember reading about the trick with the aquarium pump. It is now on my shopping list.
I will only offer a few comments, here. Although I have heard of Folks taking a Shower, with their Doll, It’s not really recommended. I remember reading somewhere, that if you choose to clean your Doll, in the Shower, you should remove her head, and cover the Bolt Hole, with Plastic Wrap....the Goal being to not allow any water inside the Doll, to reach her Steel Skeleton. Because, it will rust, over time, and fail....by locking up, or even breaking. A bath, with your Doll, sounds great, but....Water is not your friend. It is insidious, finding it’s way through the tiniest opening. Sitting your Doll in a bathtub of warm soapy water, would not be a good thing. Plus, the Metal Screw Heads, protruding from the Soles of her feet (that allow her to stand, without damaging the TPE), would surely damage the Porcelain of that Bathtub, or Tiles, in a Shower Floor.
Sorry to be the Wet Blanket....
I too, just do a Sponge Bath, when it’s needed, followed by a good, all over dusting with Talcum Powder, to get her TPE Skin, back to feeling smooth and natural.
Drying out the inside of Your Doll’s Orifices, is really important. While it can be done manually, with a microfiber cloth and long forceps, it really is a lot easier, with a low pressure Aquarium Air Pump, with clear plastic Tubing. Wipe her out, with your damp wash cloth, after fun time, then plug in your little Air Pump, and insert the plastic tube inside her....to “ventilate her Vagina....” as I call it, LoL. I even put an adaptor on the air Tube, from my Air Pump, to split the Airflow into Two, in case I decided to enjoy Two Openings, during fun time....
Just my two cents....
I have not but I recommend a good old sponge bath. It is safe and easy. I just put a few towels under her on the bed and gently using a microfiber towel wash her down gently with a bowl of warm water mixed with a small squirt of dish soap. Let her dry and then lightly powder her. I use a lavender scented powder.
Sorry that I do not have an answer to this question. I am however curious about this particular scenario. I do not currently have a doll but if I did I would like to share showers with her and I would also probably enjoy bathing her or simply cuddling under the nice relaxing flow of water.
Do all dolls have this hole in the cervix ?
Also I read that some dolls can't have their heads submersed or even wetted for fear of losing makeup or some such. At any rate, I am anxious to learn about this too.
