    A17 head has arrived!

    in General Discussions

Got the head for my 145cm doll today, after FedEx screwed up delivery yesterday. I replaced the eyes that came in the head with the light blue I bought from MLD. Unfortunately, the eyelids were partially fused to the eyes that came with the head. I was able to remove the eyes without damaging the TPE flesh, but there is hardened adhesive on the eyes that I don't think will come off. I believe it's from the glue that is used to keep the eyelashes in place. If anyone knows how to remove it from the eyes without ruining them, please let the forum know. The head is great, very pretty.

These are the eyes that came out. You can see the adhesive that has been colored by the mascara.

The A17 head at home on my 145cm large bust. I like it very much.

I really like the A-17 face, too! And, to me, it is perfectly proportioned, for the 145 body... I really like that eye color! Reference the stuck on Glue, on the other Eyes. I have found that on several Eyes, when I switched out the originals. I am pretty sure it is Superglue (cyanoacrylate). It just came off, with my fingernail....

Thanks, I tried with these eyes and others to remove the glue with my fingernails and it's not working.

@alexchangander my A17 was the exact same way.

The eyes were somewhat bugged and couldn’t be positioned.

Unfortunately, most people considers them a loss after this because super glue is acrylic plastic when cured, and the eyes are acrylic as well.

So anything that attacks the glue (ie: Acetone) will attack the eye.

This is what I did to clean off the eyes that were easily as bad as yours:

1: Running them under hot water to help soften the glue, I scraped off as much of the glue as possible with my thumbnail.

2: Using the wife’s nail polish remover (Acetone), I carefully removed the remainder of the glue.

This will attack the eye itself so you have to be quick and use the remover sparingly.

3: Then I used some plastic polish to restore the clarity of the eye itself.

    White toothpaste would probably work.

I in fact used some Cerama Brite ceramic stove top cleaner.

(I was in the kitchen doing this)

These were the eyes in my A-17 that are in the pictures on this site.

@Fantastic Plastic Great method, as always. I'm personally gonna let these go to the great doll yard in the sky, but your description will save some owners from buying new ones.
